Understanding fibre network stages

Bringing fibre to a community happens in several stages. Each stage plays a part in making sure the network is safe, reliable and ready for use.

Design
We plan the network layout, work with councils and utilities, and design the path the fibre will take.

Construction
Our contractors install pits, ducts and fibre cables in the street. You may see civil works during this stage.

Testing
We test each section of the network to make sure the fibre is performing as it should.

Ready for service
Once an area passes testing, it becomes ready for service. At this point, homes and businesses can order a connection through one of our retail service partners.

If you want to know the status of your area, you can check the rollout page on our website or use the service qualification tool on the Splice site.
